Six things to do if the current ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ukrainian situation overwhelms you

It is natural to feel helpless about situations which we never expected, over which we have no control and yet which affect is deeply . For example : The ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ukraine attacks which are going on right now.

The more we listen to the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ the worse it seems. Media shows us images of helpless Indian students stranded, crying, appealing for help. (The government had issued advisories long back to return home). We see images of destruction, families fleeing and the president bravely staying on , saying they will not surrender.

There are debates all over on social media by whether India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ did the right thing by abstaining from voting ๐Ÿ—ณ and taking a neutral position.

It’s easy to get swept ๐Ÿงน up by sentiments.

It’s hard to think ๐Ÿค” objectively.

If you are feeling worried, stressed or anxious about the current situation in the world ๐ŸŒŽ you could do the following things:

1. Switch off from social media for a while. Walk outside . Go to a park if you can . Absorb sunshine ☀️. It’s known to be a good anti- depressant.

2. Send out a prayer ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ for the safety of those fleeing . Send out ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ prayers for cessation of war and attacks.

3. Focus on all the things that are currently going right in your life. Be aware of everything you have — a home ๐Ÿก, a few loved ones, health , and ๐Ÿ’ฐenough  money for food. Those are indeed great blessings.

4.Read a good book. (Ironically the fiction ๐Ÿ“• that I am reading right now mentions the Ukraine ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ- Russia crisis in passing !)

5. Call up a good friend and talk about happy things. Perhaps you can plan a holiday even if you can’t immediately ๐Ÿงณ travel!

6. Do something that brings you joy ๐Ÿคฉ.. perhaps you can listen ๐ŸŽง to ๐ŸŽถ. Maybe you can watch a good TV show.Maybe you can try a new recipe!

Remember, a lot of things are out of our control. Our stressing about them won’t change outcomes. Whatever has to happen will happen. Time has a way of taking care of things.

I sincerely hope the India students stranded there return safely. My heart ❤️ goes out to all the people losing loved ones in this awful destruction taking place.

Prayers for peace ✌๐Ÿผ

❤️ Preeti.

  2. Namakarm Preetiji.,

A nice written post with lots of empathy. But you rightly said we can hardly do any thing.

What is worrying me is this if the UN becomes a bystander to Russia's expansionist ambitions then tomorrow China might get emboldened and try to take over Arunachal and north-east from us as that is their unfinished agenda.

My heart goes out to the Ukrainan people however this Ukranian government has been voting against Indian interest in the UN.Be it on nuclear weapons or integration of Kashmir with rest of India .

    Great thoughts,Great post

    1. Yes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ; Ukraine never supported us. Still I feel bad. And we can’t allow big nations to bully smaller nations.
Like you rightly said today it is Ukraine. Tomorrow it might be us .

  3. Hi Preeti. It is really devastating to watch the news. I am praying for those who have lost their lives in this gruesome war. Never knew that there are so many Indians living in Ukraine. Hope they return safely to India so they can be with their families. The points you mentioned are extremely beneficial - not only because of the Ukraine/Russia War - but in general. Since last Lockdown, I have been following a lot of these points and it has helped me to become a better person - especially mentally. Taking a break from Social Media to enjoy other things in life has made me to realize that life is really beautiful when we look at things from a different perspective. I liked the point you wrote about how we should not worry about things which are not in our control. Whether we worry or not, things will not change and all we need to do is
