My number one tip for achieving your dream life.

Many a time in my interviews, I am asked 'What's the one piece of advice you wish you had heard when you were starting your career?'

The people who ask this, I am guessing, want a tip which they can implement in their lives, a tip from someone they perceive as successful, and a tip when followed would give them a jump start in their career. But the only tip I truly have is a clichéd one--it is to work hard and to never give up. Clichés are often true and perhaps that's why many overlook it as it seems too simple to be true.

Today, I'm living my dream. It's something I never thought would be possible. I've worked hard for whatever I have achieved today (Fifteen bestsellers whihc have sold millions of copies and touched people's lives). I've struggled, faced rejections and made it on my own. There was no one to guide me , give me advice, hold my hand or pick up the pieces when I was down. I wanted it badly and I worked every single day towards my goal. Some days I might not have achieved it. But I was back the next day, chipping away bit by bit.

Consistency pays rich dividends.  So be consistent.

Also the other piece of advice I have for someone starting out is 'Do not listen to others.' There will be a hundred people who tell you it cannot be done. If you share your dream with anyone it is likely that they will not see it the same way that you do. So be your own best friend. Reach inside yourself and find that reservoir of courage.Set it free and immerse yourself inside it. Fight, fight hard for your dreams. If you don't do it, no one else will do it for you.
