Why then did you leave? A poem.
This is a poem I wrote many years back. I wanted to share it today.
Why did you leave?
The last song is yet to be sung,
The last bell is yet to be rung.
The last book is yet to be read,
The last word is yet to be said.
The last bow is yet to be taken.
The last Martini is yet to be shaken.
The last note is yet to be played,
The last etching is yet to fade.
Why then did you leave?
Why did you choose to walk away?
Leaving me to waltz the last dance
And face the music alone.
Couldn’t you stay?
