3 ways to take your mind off Corona !
Hi there,
Here I am, back again on day 2 of #21daysof positivity.
How are you holding up?
Yesterday, I asked on my instagram, how you guys are feeling and coping. I observed a curious thing : everyone who is reading, said they are feeling positive and relaxed. Everyone who is not reading seemed to be feeling stressed.
I think those who have accepted the lockdown, are looking for ways to make this time useful. They are picking up neglected hobbies, feeling happier.
Extreoverts are having it harder. They are missing meeting their friends, going out, going to restaurants etc. If you are feeling boxed in, indoors here are my top three suggestions to take your mind off corona.
1. Reach out to a positive friend or a family member via a video call: Make a pact that you will NOT talk about Corona. Discuss a TV show you like, or a movie---or anything! Just don't talk about Corona.Don't complain about maids not being there! I think as you read this, you probably know just the friend to connect to :)
2. Set up a movie party or a date: Pick something you and your friend(s) like and watch remotely at the same time! You can pause and discuss (if you like). Keep the chat window open. Make full use of technology.
3. Switch on music and clean your room: I did this today. I listened to one of my favourite radio channles BBC 2, which was plahying some really good music. My room is spotless and sparkling clean and full of positive energy. I am happy I did that.
If you like my posts, please leave me comments and I shall try and respond to every single one. If you are reading this in your inbox, please head over to my blog, and leave me a comment there. I may not be able to reply to mails.
I shall be back tomorrow.
Till then, stay happy! Count your blessings. Focus on all the good things.
Lots of love
Preeti

ReplyDeleteAs I read this I also read one of the interesting technique you mentioned via Mrs Hayden from the book about Calming your mind by Balloon and seeing it going away smaller and smaller... I find it amazing. Thanks for such a technique
Thanks so much! Glad it helps. It's something I made up entirely, as the book is fictional.
DeleteEach day, I clean a part of the house that has been left untouched for months. For example, there is a glass cabinet in the dining area which stores our crockery and other dinner sets, glasses, mugs, plates, etc. This had not been cleaned for months. So sat down with my Mom so we could get it cleaned. We also did a video call with one of my aunts from Mumbai. Had not seen her in months! It felt so nice to talk for a long time. Finally, we made some regular calls to some relatives who we had planned on calling from a long time, but could not. Sitting at home makes me less stressed!:-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a good way to get the whole house cleaned. What do you do for a living?
DeleteI am a Store Manager for a Jewelry Showroom.

Preeti ji your blog posts are as lovely as you and your books.I did one thing today itself. The network was bad so could not do a video call however I had a 54 minute chat with my very good freind ranbir (he is in delhi n I am in kolkata?).We had a wonderful conversation about books, movies, spirituality and politics not even once mentioning the current buzzword disease. It was awesome.I feel this virus is like Lord Voldemort (from Harry Potter)....He who must not be named.Mam love your blog and I get more thrilled when you drop a reply to me.🙏🙏
