On making time for things that matter to you

Recently I came across a lovely meditation technique espoused by a  Tibetan buddhist master Mingyur Rinpoche, who says that you can meditate even if you have only one minute.
I found the concept fascinating, practical, useful and enlightening.
Click HERE to watch him explain it.

If you think about it, it is actually about living in the moment, not thinking about yesterday, not worrying about tomorrow, instead to be fully present, now and here.

Of late, I have been doing that a LOT. I have been sketching from live subjects. (I am taking an online course ). When I sketch, it is almost a meditative experience. I forget about everything else.

Today i did one of the most detailed drawings I have ever done in my life. It took more than 3 hours.
Here's what I made:

I am also sharing some of my other drawings:

Many people ask me how I get the time to do so much; Here's the thing---I believe that you always make time for that which you want to do. (I had also written a post on time management some years back)

If you like someone a lot, you will make time for them, no matter what. Same for things you love doing.
No matter what is going on, it is always possible to tweak your schedule a bit for things that matter most to you.

I have worked really hard for my 8th novel, and finally it is all done. Hence I am completely immersing myself in my art.

And oh yes, am taking a much deserved vacation too :)
Of course, I will share the pictures with you, and write about it. So stay tuned!

  10. Amazing sketches! I am a huge fan of your art and poetry! Enjoy your well deserved break!

I give myself quiet time every single day. Even my kids know that they need to be silent during that time. It is so therapeutic.
