There's someone awesome in your life!

Not everybody will always treat you fair. You might have done everything you possibly could for them. You might have been there for them in their times of need. You might have had some really great moments with them. You might have cherished their friendship, even treasured it and given it a lot more importance than it deserved. Yet, when it came to what matters, when it came to counting on them, when it boiled down to being there for each other, they might have let you down. Real bad.

You hurt and you hurt. The pain is almost physical. And you learn a real good lesson.

And then when you let go of the past, someone even more awesome walks into your life.

Someone who will stay and will not walk away.

You hold on to them, cherish them. You travel a few thousand miles to be with them.
They are there for you. They always were--only you took a while to recognise them.

And let them into your heart. (oh the debris left by the ones who left had to be cleared first!)

If you know what I am talking about, send them some love today!
Brighten their day.
Call them and tell them you love them.
Tell them how much they mean to you and tell them why you're grateful for their presence in your life.
Send them a card.
Hug them.
Let them know.

The ones who left--let them go their own way. You cannot tie down someone. They choose their paths.
Forget them.

And the ones who stayed--oh they are the awesome'st!
Never let them forget that!!

  2. Hey Preeti, a short but very nice post. It echoes what I am feeling right now. I was co-incidentally planning to write on something along these lines. Had been a silent reader of all your blog posts until this post when I decided to put into words, my opinion. Great job at blogging! You are such an inspiration to many writers all over! Keep up the good job and All the Best for everything!

  4. I spent the last 12 years of my life investing a lot in nurturing a relationship – sacrificing, adjusting and accommodating for someone in my family. But I was let down very very badly by the same person. The pain as you say was (and still is) almost physical. It left me let’s say .. feeling bereft. But as I slowly get over the hurt, I do believe now that the horrid people are out of my life, more and more awesome people are going to walk right into it :)
Thank You for this post Preeti - and for the positivity that you spread ...

  7. A very lovely post, ma'am :))
It's so humanly to feel hurt and dejected when we aren't reciprocated of our affection/love from someone for whom we care and it's very natural, I guess, to expect to be cared for in the same way as we do for them... but alas, sometimes certain people or certain things don't go as per our way/wish. And only when we move on and make space for others, that someone better caring person comes into our life. That's a more fulfilling feeling.
And in a way, each time we are shaterred, we come out more stronger and matured. But we need to carry and keep nurturing our love and affection inside our hearts because we will surely meet someone who will understand and value our emotions.
As someone has rightly said, "it's perhaps God's way of teaching us... Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift!"

  21. Very true. its difficult to move on after you have been hurt but that should be the mantra of one's life.

Its like the clutter that has to go so that new things can move in :)

  22. Everybody needed to move on, welcome the Future and forget the past. But past memories and involved persons always drags.

To maintain Freshness, let the future knock the door. There may be some Gift!!

    Nice post.
