A special relationship and a birthday wish.

She called me up this morning at around 5.45 a.m. I had been fast asleep and my hand reluctantly reached out from under the blanket to answer her call. Groggy eyed, I picked up the phone and tip-toed out of the bedroom, so that I don't wake Satish, my brain still pounding under the confusion of being suddenly woken up, my mind suspended in that half-dazed state between sleep and wakefulness.

'Good morning Preeti,'  she said.

'Hey--all okay?' I asked.

'Wish me first, It is my birthday,' she said.

'Idiot--did you wake me up for that? I would have wished you later. I was fast asleep.'

'So what? That's okay if i woke you,'

I smiled  and wished her.

And we spoke for a good 35 minutes.

And that was just the first phone call. Later there were many more phone calls to each other.

Apart from the whatsapp chats.

'Hey, Do you realise something?' I told her, a little while ago.

'What?' she asked.

'We're in a relationship,' I said.

'What?! ' she asked.

' We're sisters.' I said.

And she smiled.

It was the truth.

I do not know what I would have done without her. She is one of my closest friends and it is a friendship of more than 11 years. She is one of my biggest well-wishers and sometimes, I trust her much more than I trust my own self :)

She is an entrepreneur, a mom, a business woman--completely self-made and very successful. She is someone I truly admire.  ( I plan to write about her someday.)

Happy birthday Priya.
I love you loads and feel so blessed to have you in my life.

  1. Hi Ma'am,
It is true that we are incomplete without our friends. And friends are the best reason to celebrate our beautiful lives. They fill our lives with true love .They are someone who we can rely upon. They can either be the members of family ,peers, classmates, etc.True friend is one's alter ego. They share a proper rapport despite any difficult circumstances. The bond grows stronger with age,a rare exception to the law of time.True friends are difficult to find these days but there is always a flickering light of hope which has enough love and shine to radiate through clouds no matter how dense or dark they are.Friendship is indeed the God's blessing.

  4. Ahhaa.. I can very well connect to this post Preeti. My friend last year called me at 12am and asked me to wish her ♥ Girl friends are indeed soul sisters. I would always say her, "God made us best friends because he knew our parents couldn't handle us as sisters. " ;-)

Lots of me! An update of what I have been upto, the last two weeks.

Over the last two weeks, I have spent more time in planes, airports, cars and hotel rooms than I have at home. To say that it has been awfully hectic would understating it.
I have been travelling. A LOT. Those of you who follow my Instagram feed, would  know that I had been to Mumbai, Delhi and Jammu over the last two weeks.

In Mumbai, I had an interview with Sonali Bendre. She runs a book club called Sonali's Book Club. They pick up a book, read it, and then discuss it. I was overjoyed that she found my book fascinating. We had an in-depth conversation about the book. It was easily one of the best interviews i have had.
It was live on Facebook as well as Instagram.
In case you missed it, do watch it below:

I also had a live interaction with Midday, and FirstPost.
That was fun as well. You can watch the Firstpost one below:

In Delhi, I had a lovely interaction with InUth. They asked me if I like Durjoy or Ravinder. You can see what i answered in the below video :)

A Hundred Little Flames - Chapter 1

There were two completely unrelated incidents that happened on Sunday, which would change Ayan’s life forever.

1. He attended an office party thrown by his boss in a swanky uptown pub in Pune.
2.More than a thousand miles away, in a small village in Kerala, not identifiable by Google Maps, his grandfather had a fall.

On Monday morning, unaware of anything but the clock on his computer ticking, Ayan took a sip of the horrendous office tea with over-boiled tea leaves, too much milk and sugar. He had only forty-five minutes left before the meeting was to begin. Beads of perspiration trickled down his forehead into his eye, and he blinked. His brow furrowed, he sat hunched, with an ache in his neck, his fingers flying across the keyboard. He felt as though somebody was raining blows inside his head. His throat was parched despite the tea, and now his stomach began to feel queasy as well.
He regretted having that fourth tequila last night. But Randhir had insisted. You can hardly…
