Endurance--a quality we must cutlivate.

Today was a very sad day for me.  I lost my bird. (which was a rescue and which had been with me for over four years. Those who follow me on my instagram know that she would fly to my hands and eat from my hand. She was a fully flighted bird and she was left free inside my room). She went peacefully in her sleep.

Life is fragile. We have to make the most of the present moment. Also we need to have certain non-negotiable personal  rituals so that we can cope with the shocks that life will give us ever so often. For me it is my gym work-outs, meditation and writing in my diary every single day before I go to bed. These things have been scientifically proven to strengthen the mind immensely.

I am grieving for what I lost--but I know I will get over it. I also feel grateful for the love I received from the bird, and how much she trusted me.

Anyway, I diverge. The blog marathon must go on.

For today's post, I thought I'd do the One word sixty second challenge. It's a great exercise to get your  creative juices flowing. Check it out by clicking on the link.
You have one minute to write on a word that it gives.

I got this word 👇👇

ENDURANCE
Here's what I came up with in one minute:

'Endurance is the name of the game,' the gym instructor told his client who had just joined the gym.
That was the last thing she wanted to hear.
'Endurance my foot. To give me cliches like this is not what I hired you for,' She glared at him  as she struggled to walk on the treadmill.

Do you think I should continue the story? Let me know in comments below. (If you are reading this in your inbox, do head over to my blog and leave me a comment.)

Also if you take part in the challenge, I'd love to know what  word you got, and what you came up with. Copy paste what you came up with in my comment box. Also tell me the word you got.

A new day tomorrow--a new post tomorrow.
Take care of yourself and do not forget to be grateful for all that went well today.

Love

Preeti

    2. Sorry 😢😢😢. My apology mentioned as story. I wish another bird 🕊️ will make you happy just like this bird.

  2. Oh, I'm sorry. It's endearing how birds begin to trust you slowly. I have experienced it. Reminds me of those lovely videos (of the little bird) you shared on Twitter.

This one minute writing seems challenging. I'd probably write kuchh bhi, but I'll try. Yours seems interesting, it would be nice to read the full story. I've started exercising recently (for the first time. I was a 'go for a walk' kind of person). It's been 20 days and now I am beginning to wonder how long it will take to enjoy the workout sessions. I still have to force myself to do that. However, I'm surprised that I'm still doing it.

    1. Same bird--she passed away today.
Good to hear about your exercise. What are you doing? Weights? Once you see the results it becomes addictive

    2. Yes, sorry to hear that. She was so cute.

Not weights, just some random exercise/aerobics. Following some Youtube videos (hope that's okay). Cut down sugar intake and all that. I really hope it gets addictive.

  3. Hi Preeti. I am really sorry to hear about your bird. She sounded like a beautiful friend who loved and cared for you a lot. The story you wrote about endurance was nice. Please continue as I am eager to see what else you will write. I tried the One Word Sixty Second Challenge. The word I got was Imagination and here is what I wrote:
I have a vivid imagination. When I feel sad about my life, I like to imagine how things could have been or could be if I was living in a different dimension. As a child, I had this wild imagination to tell stories that were like fairytales for little girls. Being imaginative makes us feel like we have a difference perception. It's so nice to be imaginative!

  5. Namaskaram Preetiji,

So so sorry to hear about your little birdie.Om Shanti.I remember the way she had food from your hand. Her name was Yoshi(if I am not mistaken).May God bless her soul.

    My word was IMAGINATION

Curled up in the dark, damp room she found herself crouched on the dirt floor of a remote unknown location, inhaling toxic fumes and frightened beyond belief.
Never in her wildest imagination had she thought that this would be her fate.
She could not escape this situation she was bound and gagged with little hope of escape.

Hope you like my little story.
Lots of Love,Respect and complete devotion to my favorite Author🙏🙏💛💛

  9. The loss of a pet is the least spoken about losses. Heartfelt condolences 🙏 Endurance definitely needs a short story from your pen with those dark undertones!

  10. It's very saddening to know that Yoshi passed away. Made me remember when one of my birds passed away back in 2021. I am sure you have all the memories with her to cherish forever. I remember it was a pair of birds you had. How about the other one? How is he coping up?

And regarding the word Endurance, yes please write a story on it. I love reading your books so I am sure the story will be amazing as well
